For November we are delighted to welcome Lee Karen Stow to Manchester. Lee is a freelance documentary photographer and journalist. She has written and photographed on people and places for national newspapers, magazines and books, and has delivered talks and held exhibitions in UK, USA, Canada, West Africa and Europe. Her body of work '42' is five-years in the making and highlights the poor life expectancy of women in Sierra Leone, West Africa. It is currently on show at the International Slavery Museum in Liverpool.

Lee is working on two new bodies of work 'Fighting for Gold' and 'Girls in the Ring' which look at the world of female boxing, in the run-up to London 2012 when women will be able to compete in the ring for the first time in the history of the Olympic Games.

She is also founder of the Women with Cameras grass-roots project which facilitates the training and equiping of female indigenous photographers in Sierra Leone. She was born in Kingston upon Hull, East Yorkshire, the official twin city to Freetown, Sierra Leone.

This event is free to attend and all are welcome. Arrive from 18:30 for a drink, with the talk starting at 19:00.
